Marién Luévano was born in Mexico City. Her first introduction to flamenco was at the hand of Mercedes Amaya “La Guini,” niece of the legendary Carmen Amaya. Other teachers she learned from in Andalucía are: Joaquin Fajardo, Milagros Menjibar, Rafael Campallo and Los Farrucos. Marién was awarded by FONCA, from 2003 to 2005, a grant to study in Fundacion Christina Heeren in Sevilla Spain and in 2006 and to create a choreography work. Marién has performed in “La Casa de la Memoria” in Sevilla, “Conservatorio de Danza Morelos” in Cuernavaca, México, and “Un Poquito de Compas” Flamenco Series in Teatro de la Danza in México City.
She has taught workshops at the “Esencia Flamenca” academy in Taipei Taiwán and “Spain Kikaku” academy in Fukuoka, Japan.
Marién is a regular performer at the Tablao Flamenco “Gitanerías” in Mexico City and is the founder and Artistic Director of “Duende Flamenco” a working space for flamenco dancers and musicians to explore the endless possibilities of the art of flamenco.
Marién Luévano is a regular guest artist with Flamenco Rosario and Centro Flamenco.
